A sunroof should not sound like it is fighting the wind every time you drive. If you hear rattling, whistling, tapping, or wind noise near the roof, something may not be sitting right.

Why sunroof noise happens
Sunroof noise often starts when air gets past the seal or when the glass is not sitting flush with the roof. Dirt in the track, loose trim, a worn seal, or a panel that shifted slightly can all change how air moves over the roof.
Noise can also happen after a leak, after the sunroof was stuck, or after the vehicle went through rough weather.
Rattle vs whistle
A whistle often points to air passing through a small gap. That may involve the seal, glass fitment, trim, or the way the panel closes.
A rattle can point to loose glass, a loose trim piece, a track issue, or something moving inside the roof opening.

Why you should not ignore it

Can noisy sunroof glass be repaired?
Sometimes. If the glass is not cracked and the issue is seal, fitment, debris, trim, or adjustment, repair or inspection may be the right starting point.
If the glass is cracked, loose, badly damaged, or no longer sits properly, replacement may be safer. A leaking sunroof also needs a closer look because the drain, seal, and glass are all possible causes.
What should you send first?
Send your year, make, model, and a short note about the sound. Tell the shop when it happens. Is it only on the highway? Only in rain? Only when the sunroof is tilted?
